Rockwell are delighted to announce their new partnership with the Padel Federation of Ireland (PFI), to support the emerging and very popular game of Padel here in Ireland, and the PFI’s first ever National Junior Development Plan.
The immediate aim of this Development plan is to increase the overall participation and skill level of junior players with a view to playing at a competitive level in Ireland, and a long term aim of providing a clear pathway to represent Ireland at a European and International level.
The popularity of Padel has surged in Ireland in recent years and purpose built courts are becoming more widespread throughout Ireland, making it easier for people to access and play the sport. Always played in doubles which makes it a very social game, it gives a great cardiovascular workout and helps improve agility, coordination, and reflexes. It’s a fun way to stay active and healthy and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, you can still have fun and compete.
“We are so excited to support this hugely popular and rapidly growing sport in Ireland at the grassroots level and we hope it will inspire a new generation of athletes. This initiative aligns with our values of promoting wellbeing, inclusivity and community development. We hope it will help junior players to hone their talents so they can go on to represent Ireland in the future, but most importantly we hope they have fun and develop a love of sport for life” said Robert Whelan, Managing Director of Rockwell at the launch of the partnership.
Also speaking at the launch was the President of the PFI, Naomi Nicholl who said “We recognise the importance of nurturing young talent and are dedicated to creating pathways and programs that inspire and develop junior padel players and we are working directly on this programme with the Development team in the World Governing Body of padel (FIP). This ambition will be greatly enhanced by this valued partnership with Rockwell.”
“Our goal is to instil a lifelong love for the sport in the next generation” concluded Nicholl
